DIY: Chevron Pattern Tray

I have been craving 1. the chevron pattern in my home so badly, and 2. a way cute tray for my coffee table. I have to stay on a budget though, of course! Therefore I came up with the solution, that you can have what you want, without spending any money at all.

I already had a tray, perfect size and shape! But it was boring, and dark.

And I also already had some white acrylic paint, and painters tape. There you go, that's all you need! you can go the distance with these two things. So I re-newed my great tray!

Here's a Tutorial on how to make your own Super cute Chevron Stripe Pattern Tray!

Materials needed:
-A tray
-Acrylic Paint (any color you desire)
-Little brushes, sponge and bristle.
-Painters tape
-Ruler
-Scissors

Start by measuring your stripes on the tray, use a pencil so the measurements don't show as much, or you can erase them too.

I used the tape as my ruler and followed it down to get the exact distance between stripes, that way it's easier to tape as well.

Don't forget to tape the sides of the inside of the tray, that way you don't get any paint on undesirable areas.

Start painting away!

First coat!

 Second Coat!

Third Coat!

I predicted 3 coats would be enough, unfortunately it still didn't look the way I wanted it to look. So I used the bristle brush this time to see if it made a difference.
Huge difference!

VOILA!!

Now, I'm not going to lie, when I first ripped off the tape there were some smudges, and some small areas where the paint bled through. Ugh...since my tray was black, I just touched it up with a permanent marker, and it made the biggest difference ever!

A quick tip, take the tape off while the paint is still wet, that way you may have a chance to clean off some of the smudges made.

So Easy!
I love the way it turned out! This pattern is to die for!!
