Hotel Bed Makeover!

Do you just love the way Hotel Rooms make their beds?

They look absolutely comfortable, and so luxurious! If you have always wanted your bed to look like a Hotel Bed, here are some quick tips on how to give your bed a Hotel Makeover!

Of course we use our regular fitted sheet, and flat sheet.

A lot of hotel Beds are layered with 3 types of pillows.

The Euro Sham
This is the biggest and square pillow on the bed.

Second is the regular rectangular pillow that most people already have on their beds.

Most luxurious hotels offer the down pillows, which are my personal favorite, they make for a relaxing night.
And third is my most favorite type of pillow of all.

The Decorative pillows.

I love a pop of color, so getting pillows with color and pattern make the best statement pieces on your bed, and it gives it a touch of glamour!
Get Creative when choosing decorative pillows, make it your own look, and don't be afraid to go bold. Every bedroom should have a touch of glamour.

Fourth is a very important element that a lot of people forget, because it's so hidden, but it's so important for a hotel bed look.

A soft blanket!

And five, my most favorite piece on my bed.
A Duvet!

Hmm... so delicious!

Having a duvet is, not only convenient, but so cozy and luxurious at the same time. Makesure you cover your duvet, with a duvet cover. They don't come together when you buy them, but they are so worth it.
Most duvets range in the $80-$300 prices. I know, so expensive right? That's because they are filled with natural bird feathers. Don't get discouraged, you can find many affordable duvets in many stores, some of them are feather filled and others are a synthetic alternative. I found mine at Home Goods for $20, and it's feather filled. So you just might get lucky, just get out there and start browsing.

This is usually what Hotel Beds provide visitors.

Now this looks delicious!

Here is the order it should go in.

1. Fitted Sheet
2. Flat Sheet
3. Soft Blanket (place it on top of the flat sheet, than fold the flat sheet over the blanket)

4. Place your Duvet on top of it all, than fold the duvet over the same way you did the flat sheet.

5. Place your Pillows, Euro Sham first, than regular down pillow, and last your decorative pillow, as many as you want!

Sometimes to accent the bed even more, you can get a decorative throw as well, and place at the foot of the bed.

If you want to make your bedroom a little more inviting, don't hesitate to add the details.
Breakfast in bed sound very Hotelish and inviting.

Now you have a complete Hotel Bed(room) look that is ready to be enjoyed, by none other than yourself!

10 Habits of Highly Orgnized People

I was reading through some old articles about organization, and I came accross this super interesting article I found in the O magazine. It's actually kind of true, I say kind of because I consider myself 80% one of these neat freaks. So here is the count down.

1. Walk Away from Bargains

It's true! Who can resist a good bargain? Just because you can buy a good sale, does not mean you HAVE to buy it. Do you actually NEED it? Or is it because it's so cheap you get it? Guilty as charged! Take for example this cute Silver Table Top set from PB. I absolutely adore it, and it's on sale for $5.99.

Do I need it? No!

2. Make peace with Imperfection!

Guilty again! Perhaps we neat freaks take neatness and cleanliness way too seriously, I do! Spending 1 hour organizing and decorating a shelf is probably a waste of time, and unwise, when really all we need to do is take a break, just because it's not PERFECT, does not mean it's the end of the world! "Trying to do every task perfectly is the easiest way to get bogged down," says Reinardy.

3. Never label anything Miscellanous

You put a bunch of things into a file or box and write this catchall across the front. "But within a week you've forgotten what's in there," says Morgenstern. Instead, sort items into specific groups—"electric bills," "lightbulbs," and so on.

Seriously, neat freak! If you can clearly see through the container, or the bag, or there is no door/lid, than why need to label? Honestly, I do this sometimes,..well all of the time. Guilty again! that's 3 strikes, yikes!

4.4. Schedule Regular Decluttering Sessions

Rather than wait until an industrious mood strikes (we all know where that leads), have a decluttering routine in place—whether it's spending 15 minutes sorting mail after work or tackling a new project every Sunday afternoon.

Yes, decluttering is bliss!

5.Stick with what Works!

There are people who will try the newest line of make up, or the latest in technology because it has 1 new app. or the newest collection of silverware. ??
Don't waste your time and money just because you HAVE to have the best there is out there!

6.  Create a Dump Zone

Find a space to corral all the stuff that you don't have time to put away the moment you step in the door, says Breininger. Once you're ready to get organized, you won't have to hunt all over the house for the dry cleaning or your child's field trip permission slip
Yes! I love this idea because it keeps things tidy during the day.

7. Get Help!

Don't be afraid to call a friend up and ask for help, and if you have the Moolah, a professional organizer. Hey, what do you know?

8.Seperate Emotions from Posessions

It's healthy to be attached to certain items—a vase you picked up in Paris, your grandmother's pearls. But holey concert tees or cheap, scuffed earrings your husband gave you years ago? Just let them go.

9.Foresee (and Avoid) Problems

You wouldn't leave the house on a gray day without an umbrella, right? People who appear to sail through life unruffled apply this thinking to every scenario, says Breininger. Have a cabinet packed with leaning towers of Tupperware? Organized folks will take a few minutes to short-circuit an avalanche before it happens. (In other words, rearranging that cupboard now is easier than chasing after wayward lids as they scatter underneath the fridge.)
10.Know where to Donate

It's easier to part with belongings if they're going to a good home. Identify a neighbor's son who fits into your child's outgrown clothes, or choose a favorite charity. "It will save you from searching for the perfect recipient every time you need to unload something," says Morgenstern.

There you have it! Very cool article, now you know.

Room Makeover Ideas

I am itching to help someone decorate and/or organize their bedroom!  My sister and best friend both live in a house with room mates, so I came up with good budget friendly options for each of their rooms. Here's my sister's options.

She really wanted to incorporate the Gray and Yellow color palette. I love those two colors together. I already had a chandelier, so I am giving it to her.

Option 1

Option 2

Option 3

I can't wait to see which one she will choose!

Here's Heidi's Options

She really likes yellow and blue together, she is also a very simple and clean easy going chick, so I came up with a soothing and cute combination that reflects her style and personality.

Option 2

Option 3

Which one will she choose???

I also have a friend who is ready to doll up her guest bedroom retreat. She picked out Yellow and Black for her color palette. Man, all these ladies love yellow! I do too! It's a fun color. Here's her 3 options.

DIY: Chevron Pattern Tray

I have been craving 1. the chevron pattern in my home so badly, and 2. a way cute tray for my coffee table. I have to stay on a budget though, of course! Therefore I came up with the solution, that you can have what you want, without spending any money at all.

I already had a tray, perfect size and shape! But it was boring, and dark.

And I also already had some white acrylic paint, and painters tape. There you go, that's all you need! you can go the distance with these two things. So I re-newed my great tray!

Here's a Tutorial on how to make your own Super cute Chevron Stripe Pattern Tray!

Materials needed:
-A tray
-Acrylic Paint (any color you desire)
-Little brushes, sponge and bristle.
-Painters tape
-Ruler
-Scissors

Start by measuring your stripes on the tray, use a pencil so the measurements don't show as much, or you can erase them too.

I used the tape as my ruler and followed it down to get the exact distance between stripes, that way it's easier to tape as well.

Don't forget to tape the sides of the inside of the tray, that way you don't get any paint on undesirable areas.

Start painting away!

First coat!

 Second Coat!

Third Coat!

I predicted 3 coats would be enough, unfortunately it still didn't look the way I wanted it to look. So I used the bristle brush this time to see if it made a difference.
Huge difference!

VOILA!!

Now, I'm not going to lie, when I first ripped off the tape there were some smudges, and some small areas where the paint bled through. Ugh...since my tray was black, I just touched it up with a permanent marker, and it made the biggest difference ever!

A quick tip, take the tape off while the paint is still wet, that way you may have a chance to clean off some of the smudges made.

So Easy!
I love the way it turned out! This pattern is to die for!!
