Window Treatment Update, finally!

Hi and good day! Ok, today i'm super excited, i am especially giddy about this post, because not only did i work hard on this, well not too hard actually, but i just love the transformation. i have been obsessed with roman shades for quite sometime, especially bamboo shades. They're coastal, relaxed, super casual, and they add special interest, texture, and character to a window treatment. i have been wanting to get these shades for quite sometime, frankly they were a bit on the high end for me, i know they're not too expensive, but for my budget they were. i have been wanting these shades, forever!!!

i just had to deal with some ugly regular blinds, well, they came with the rental, and i was grateful to have had blinds, but Nolan kept breaking them, and that cord was a hazard. So i always kept them up, just to give me the satisfaction of the blinds being up, just like roman shades go. This is what my poor windows looked like, because the blinds were so not cool, the awesome curtains i picked up a couple months ago, the blinds would not give my gorgeous curtains justice.

Poor Sad Windows

so i went to my momma's house yesterday, because she told me she picked some bamboo shades at the DI (good will) i went to go measure them to see if they would fit, sure enough, they were just perfect!!!

Amazing!!! It was a dream come true!

Now, because the shades didn't come with instructions, luckily the hardware came with it, i didn't know how, or even had a clue on how to install these babies. i am so grateful for youtube and awesome smart window folk, i followed these super easy, and quick instructions on how to install these shades. Depending on what you want, outside or inside installation instructions, here is a quick link for both.

Click on Inside Mount to learn how i installed mine.

Click on Outside Mount to learn how to install.

It was sooooo easy! Look how wonderful they turned out!!

I adore them!!!

The sweetest part of this project, was that it was absolutely and completely FREE!!!
Thanks to my momma!

Thanks for stopping by friends!

Lamp Makeover for less than $30

Ok, last week was very hectic, we are planning our big family vacation for the year, and between passports, and airfare, scheduling and work, it has been crazy around here. i am sorry i neglected you last week. But i'm back, this week, i am happy to finally be able to post this project, i am very happy with the way it turned out, although it took me quite a while to finally finish this up, edit, and post, i fianlly did it.

i found this super amazing, and super heavy gorgeous lamp at the DI (good will) and i just had to have it. So i bought it, $8 bucks baby!

Of course, i would have liked to have two of the same, but i thought, why not? i haven't come accross a good pair, and this one was super nice and super cheap! i must admit, i was tempted to leave it as it was, i am kinda digging the brass, but heck, i wanted to paint something!

Ok, so now for the fun makeover! I was inspired by many lamps out there, you know, the classic and suttle white on white? Well, i thought, why not? could it get boring? maybe, but that's the beauty of it being white, if i want to adjust the tempeture of the room, i can either re-paint it, or swap the shade. So i used my Three Amigos (which i already had)

The white Rust-Oleum for the whole lamp in general, i got a glass with protective enamel because i wanted this lamp nice and shiny. I also wanted to hardware to match the new hardware, so i used my left over silver spray paint for the hardware, and of course, before you add those awesome colors, you must always apply primer first!

and of course sander and cloth (to remove the dust) again, i already had these handy as well

Next i taped the hardware and vintage cord

Next, you will need to sand your lamp so that the paint will truly hold

Wipe off the dust, after it's all wiped well, you are ready to spray paint with primer first! Let dry about 30 mins, depending on the weather, it was super cold when i did it, so i had to let dry about 1 1/2. After it's been primed well and all over, than you can spray paint with your desired color.

i apologize i did failed to take pics of all the steps on priming and painting with white, because it was sooo dang cold!

After I got done spray painting the lamp alone, i still needed to work on the hardware

So i used the same steps, sanded primed, and sprayed painted, and the transformation was splendid!

i love it!!! So now it's ready to go. i got this super cute shade at Target for $20

Well, what do ya think? Total cost for this makeover $29

Thanks for coming over today!

{My Work From Home Space Mini Makeover}

It's Monday, and i am loving it! I got everything i needed to get done today. One of my goals was to finish up setting up my work desk, it's no picture perfect, not even magazine worthy, but at least it looks much better than it did. We got this little cheap desk fro IKEA, nothing too fancy, just something that would work, since i only use it 3 days a week, it wasn't a big deal. Honestly, whenever i first got my desk, i didn't feel inspired, or even the desire to personalize it, why? i'm not exactly sure, but after 3 weeks working from home, in a blah work area, i decided it needed to step it up, and make it my own, it just felt boring and dull.

so i decided to use one of my favorite products, {washi tape} to liven up the dull and humble color of the desk. Don't you just love greek key patterns?

i wanted more zang, so i decided to make another faux- nail- head- trimmed cork board, just like the one that is featured on Woman's Day Magazine of this month's issue. To learn how to make your own Faux-Nail-Head Trimmed cork Board click here.

Got some cute storage from the $1 store, and colorful pens and accessories.

My work space is now complete! Much better!

Now i have my bulletin board with awesome fun pictures, and messages to keep me going through the day, in case i get mean callers.

Now it feels like home. You'd be surprised how much of a difference personalization and color do, in the place you spend time in. Your home defines who you are as an individual, it's where you live, make it beautiful and pleasant, for it's where life happens.

TaTa for now Peeps

Reader Inspiration Help: Decorating the Mantel

It's Monday, and it's a good day here in the Salt Lake Valley. Over the weekend, I had a reader ask me, how can I decorate my mantel? I have no idea what to do with a mantel, can you help?

Thanks so much for submitting your question, I know decorating a mantel can be tricky, nerve wrecking, and so frustrating. How do you decorate an every day, casual mantel? There's holiday mantels, and super fancy and elegant mantels, in castles and mansions. But how about your average every day, mantel? It can be challenging when decorating your mantel.

Creat a TRIANGLE!
Here are a few elements to creating your Triangle.

1. You need a Center Piece, weather it be a big mirror, or a piece of art. Having a big statement piece will make your mantel the focal point.

Look at this awesome Decal, what a great idea!

2. Add Movement. What is movement? Movement is an important element in design, it will create excitement to your eyes, and will keep the eyes roaming. Movement provides interest, and hopefully curiosity. For example, how about a group of diagonal candles. Or pretty vases of different sizes?

3. Add Visual Weight opposite to movement, to counter balance movement.  This will create your Triangle.

 4. Layer. Layering will create depth, and a story within your display. Use books, decorations, picture frames to layer, in between, to the left, to the right. This will end your Triangle.

Remember when Executing your Mantel Display, you must make a TRIANGLE!

This is one of my favorite Executions ever!
